Fitting Installation

Installation Instructions

For superior performance in your piping system it is necessary to ensure that the correct installation procedures for both the pipes and the fittings are followed. This will ensure the long term optimal performance of the system.

75 mm to 110 mm diameter

Cut the pipe end square. Use a mitre box and fine tooth wood saw. Take the compression fitting apart. At this stage - do not fit the white clinch ring onto the pipe. Push the pipe onto the body of the fitting. Place the black thrust ring and the "O" thrust ring against the body of the fitting. To ensure the "O" ring and the thrust ring completely fit into the body of the fitting, tighten the lock nut. Unscrew the lock nut; push it away from the body of the fitting. Place the white clinch ring on the pipe between the body and the nut. Place the "O" ring up against the body. Tighten the lock nut manually onto the thread of the fitting body. Work cautiously to prevent the over-stressing of the fitting. Use a strap or chain wrench to tighten up the fitting.

Fittings up to 63 mm diameter

Cut the end of the pipe square, with a pipe cutter or handsaw. Deburr the end of the pipe. Place the pipe at a 15° angle to simplify the placing of the pipe and fitting together – without damaging or dislodging the “O” ring. To facilitate movement, apply lubricant to the pipe end. Taking the fitting, push the pipe through the “O” ring until it lodges against the stop in the body of the fitting. Manually tighten the lock nut to the fitting. Tighten the lock nut further, with a plumbers strap wrench. Do not over tighten the fitting, as this will overstress the joint.
